At WVFSL we call ourselves a community bank because we believe in the importance and power of Community. It means we are friendly to our customers. It means local loan approvals. It means loaning money to local businesses that help our community grow. And it also means supporting local charities. Our support of these charities, allows us to reach out to group that is larger than our customer base and show the people of our community just how much we care! Over the next three months we will be sharing a little bit about some of the charities we have been proud to support over the years. This month we look at the community around our newest branch, Maybrook. Here are our featured charities for October month:

Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan will be a proud sponsor of the Maybrook Autumn Classic 5K for the 1st time this year.
About The Maybrook Autumn Classic 5K
Held each year in the Village of Maybrook, the Autumn Classic is a 5K race in its 11th year. The number of runners/walkers has increased each year with this year’s number of racers expected to be approximately 80 racers. Participants in the race come from all over the Hudson Valley and as far as New Jersey. The proceeds of the event go toward Village of Maybrook Recreation activities, such as sports and special events focused on the holidays. Awards will be given to Top Overall Male & Female, Top Male and Female Maybrook Resident, and Top 3 Overall Walkers. The event organizers are Jim Barnett, Kevin Greany and Linda La Rosa.
Our Maybrook Branch Manager Denise Mathelier will be on site on race day, Saturday October 24th, to assist with registration. Please be sure to stop by and say hello!
The town of Maybrook has always had a strong sense of community among its residents, that is why WVFSL is proud to sponsor The Golden Links Senior Citizen Club.
About The Golden Links Senior Citizen Club
One of the most popular clubs in the town of Maybrook is the Maybrook Golden Links. With a membership of over 100 people, the Golden Links is a club which offers senior citizens the opportunity to socialize with their peers. The group meets every Wednesday at the Senior Center located at 111 Schipps Lane, Maybrook, NY. They are a very vibrant group whose activities include weekly bingo, birthday celebrations and prayer meetings. They also participate in various fun outings including trips to Casinos, Mohonk Mountain House, Radio City and Erhardt’s. The club is so popular that there often is a waiting list for membership.
WVFSL’s contributions to the group has included both financial donations as well as building relationships with the members of the club through presentations on banking topics of interest such as The Value Community Bank in the Town of Maybrook.
