Today we thought we would spend some time getting to know our Senior Residential Loan Officer because she has spent so much time getting to know the people who live in our communities as she walks them through the loan process!
Getting to know Melissa Flickenschild, Senior Residential Loan Officer for Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan:
Melissa has been in banking since 1990 and spent all of that time working on mortgages. She began her banking career as a mortgage processor in the Newburgh branch of a Long Island mortgage bank. After a few years and taking time out to start a family, she made the move to Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan on January 2nd of 2000 amid worries of computer failure because of Y2K!
What does Melissa love about her job? We’ll let her tell us:
“I love my job because I am never bored. It challenges me every day and every file is a new challenge to complete. I get to meet and speak with a lot of great people. It’s my job to guide them through the biggest purchase of their life.”
What keeps Melissa busy when she is not helping people become homeowners?
Melissa and her husband love to get out and explore their community! In her own words:
“I have been married coming up on 25 years to the love of my life. He and I try to get out and try new things and explore what the Hudson Valley has to offer. When not doing that we love to be home working in our yard or starting another home improvement project in our 185 year old house. I also enjoy hiking and kayaking whenever I get the chance. I will never say no to a good book either!”
