Congratulations to Michael Horodyski. Thank you for the leadership example you set each and every day!

On December 2nd, Mount Saint Mary College held its Seventh Annual Gala Reception and bestowed their Joseph A. Bonura Leadership Excellence Award upon our very own Michael Horodyski.

Michael Horodyski was born and raised in Highland, NY.  After graduating from Marist College with honors, Michael spent a short time on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange before returning to the Hudson Valley to begin his banking career.  He has served local community banks in a number of capacities before joining Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan in 2009.  He was named president and CEO of WVFSL in January of 2011.  Giving back to the community is an important part of Michael’s life both professionally and personally.  He currently serves or has served on the Board of Directors for community organizations such as St. Augustine’s PTA, Town of Lloyd Town Board, Town of Lloyd Revolving Loan Fund, Walkway Over the Hudson and the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency.

Mike, President & CEO of Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan, is the type of leader who leads by example.  The entire WVFSL team is proud to serve their community and their customers under his guidance.  In fact, they were happy to share their thoughts on Mike and what it is like to work with him on a daily basis.

Domenic Baiocco, Commercial Loan Officer:

“Mike is the definition of a "down in the trenches" CEO. He knows his borrowers and customers well and even better, he knows his staff very well and treats them all with the utmost respect.”

Jim DiSalvo, AVP, Branch Manager:

“Mike is a dedicated leader who has guided Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan into a community bank dedicated to serving the entire Hudson Valley. He always makes time for any employee.  He makes it an enjoyable work atmosphere with his humor and his friendly personality.  He is knowledgeable, compassionate and has a good singing voice too!”

Mary Beth Maio, VP, Branch Manager:

“Mike doesn’t just say he “loves his community” he proves it by his presence at the many events he attends and of course his continued commitment to Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan.”

Denise Mathelier, Branch Manager:

“As the President of WVFSL, Mike is encourages his staff to be creative and think outside the box.  Mike is very community service minded and supports the efforts of staff to become active in the community.  All in all he is a very approachable president whose door is open to everyone both staff and customers.”

As for Mike, when reflecting about the award, he shared, “I’m honored and humbled to follow the list of recipients who have received the Joseph A. Bonura Award in previous years not to mention my fellow honoree Joseph Lepore.  I extend congratulations to him as well.  I, and Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan view Mount Saint Mary to be a vital part of the Newburgh community and I am very happy to receive this honor.”
