It feels so good to give!

Every November as we head full speed into the Holiday season our thoughts quite naturally turn to giving.

It’s better to give than receive

Is more than just a golden rule from the Bible (found in the book of Acts, Chapter 20, verse 35), turns out it holds pretty true in practice.  According to a survey from UnitedHealth Group people said that after they volunteered they…

Felt physically healthier                     76% of people surveyed

Felt less stressed                                 78% of people surveyed

Were in a better mood                       94% of people surveyed

So what are you waiting for?  Don’t you want to feel healthier, be less stressed and be in a better mood?  What is stopping you?  If you are thinking….I’m too busy….we can help.

You don’t have to sign up at the local animal shelter (unless you want to) or to be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army; there are other quick and thoughtful ways to give.  Here are a few ideas:

  • Write a quick Thank You note for your kids to give to a teacher, coach or bus driver.  Don’t have school aged kids?  Jot a quick thank you note and put it in your mail box or pass one to the guy who makes your coffee every morning!
  • Ask a neighbor or someone from church who lives alone to join you for dinner, all you have to do is set out an extra place setting!
  • When you buy your morning Cup of Joe, chip in an extra $5 and tell them to credit it to the next person who comes in for coffee.
  • Hold the door open for the person behind you and be sure to smile!
