Community is important for each of us. Having a friendly environment for our children to play and people willing to donate their time to keep us safe are important to the life of our local community. As a bank, we believe in supporting not-for-profit organizations that help to make our community a better place to live. Since October we have been sharing about the charities that it has been our pleasure to support during the course of the year. Now that it is December, this series of blogs will come to an end. Today’s blog will focus on two charities near our Milton branch and in the coming weeks we will feature our Highland Falls branch.
Highland Falls Library
and
American Heart Association
Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan is proud to support the Highland Falls Library and the programs they provide to the residents of our community.
About the Highland Falls Library
The Highland Falls Library is located at 298 Main Street in Highland Falls, NY. Serving residents of Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery & West Point, the Highland Falls Library offers programming for all ages. With adult book clubs, pre-school story time, summer reading programs and mah-jongg every Monday afternoon, there is always something happening at the library. They even support local artists by displaying their work in the community room! You can find out more about their ongoing programs or special events by visiting their website at: http://highlandfallslibrary.org/
Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan made a donation to the Highland Falls Library earlier this year when Michael Graiber, the former Chairman of the Board of Highland Falls Federal Savings & Loan was honored. Highland Falls Federal Savings & Loan became Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan in 2012. It has been important for us to continue the relationships previously established within the community and being a part of the celebration of Michael Graiber was a great way to do that.
American Heart Association is a national organization whose meaningful tag line says it all, life is why. Heart Disease is the #1 cause of death in New York and stroke is #5 so it is important for us to do what we can to promote healthy living. Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan has adopted many of the American Heart Association’s workplace initiatives and looks forward continuing to improve the working environment for our staff.
About The American Heart Association
While the American Heart Association is a national organization, the Hudson Valley Region is served locally through a regional office located in the town of Poughkeepsie, NY. Their focus is on helping Hudson Valley residents live healthier lifestyles both at home and in our place of business through programs, education and research. To help support important work of The American Heart Association, Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan was happy to make a $5000 contribution in 2015. Additionally, the Highland Falls Branch Manager, Jim DiSalvo participated in the AHA Heartwalk 2015, raising additional funds. Jim’s participation in the walk was inspired by his father’s open heart surgery.
